If the Coronavirus lockdown is getting you down, why not try some of these unique activities to keep you occupied and remaining positive, all from the safety of your own home!

1. Gardening
Gardening has been proven to improve not only your physical health but more importantly, your mental health. Whilst being snuggled up on your sofa all day long may sound appealing, getting outside can help boost your energy and get you out of that unmotivated slump.
2. Start a Journal
Bottling up your emotions can be detrimental to your state of mind, so getting your feelings out onto a page will help you to feel more relaxed and at ease about your thoughts. As well as this, taking the time to fill your journal with bright colours and positive quotes will allow you to take a step back and unplug from the digital heavy modern world.
3. Meditation
If you are one of the many who are experiencing heightened anxiety in these unprecedented times, taking some time in the morning to switch off from the world will be highly beneficial for you. Although watching the news is important, it can sometimes do more harm than good. So when you would usually sit down to tune into the morning news or read the newspaper, why not take the time to meditate and reflect on your wellbeing. Free meditation apps are available, with skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced, so you certainly don’t need to be an expert to start.
4. Pamper yourself
Just because we cannot leave the house doesn’t mean you can’t pamper yourself! Giving yourself some “me-time” will help to soothe your body, reduce stress and refresh your mind, leaving you feeling calm and happy. You do not need to splash out on top of the range products for this either! Homemade face masks and body scrubs can be made from products you’ll find in your kitchen and will leave your skin feeling as though you’ve had a luxury spa treatment.
5. Watch the series you’ve never had time to binge
If you are one of those people who uses the excuse of “not having enough time” as a reason why you haven’t started that popular series you’ve always wanted to watch, then now is your time! With all the time in the world in your hands, having a duvet day and finally binging that series will help keep you up to date with the modern world and will finally enable you to take part in those conversations with your friends that you’ve previously avoided (over FaceTime now of course)!
6. Travel the world with cocktails
Although your favourite cocktail bar is now closed or that luxury holiday you had planned has now been cancelled, who says you can’t enjoy those cocktails you would be sipping at the pool bar from your own home! To keep your spirits up, why not learn to make your favourite cocktails from around the world and become as good at making them as you are sipping them!
7. Make your own board game
Although this one may require a lot more time and effort than the others, it is the most rewarding! You may have already dug out the monopoly board from the shelf it was left on after Christmas one too many times, so why not make your own unique game, for you and your family to enjoy! Get creative with ideas and have fun making the board, the cards and the pieces to go with it. You will feel immense pride watching your family having fun, with the inevitable squabble over someone cheating!
